Australia has a reputation for climate extremes. Velux high performance skylights and roof windows are built and tested not only to withstand those extremes, but to thrive in them. With a BAL of 40, Velux skylights are approved for bushfire prone areas, surviving testing extremes of 950 degrees. They are suitable for cyclonic conditions, are hail tested and water tested, to be watertight as tiles. Velux skylights come with High Performance double glazing, to comply with Australian Standards. It is almost impossible to smash a Velux (even withstanding hailstones as large as cricket balls, and a 50kg tyre hitting the weakest spots). However, if a Velux does break, the laminated safety glass on the inside keeps it together, similar to the windscreen on a car. Velux has also achieved the maximum 5 star rating for their summer performance. With up to 80% heat block and 99% UV block, Velux skylights let the light in, while keeping the heat outside and preventing furniture inside fading in the sun.
